Wait Through the Silence

In a tense room, silence often does more work than another command.

When I arrived at a scene, somebody was always talking too fast. I learned not to compete with that. I would lower my voice, ask one plain question, and wait through the awkward silence. The person who filled it usually gave me the fact everyone else had missed.
